A quilt for Cora

Hi all..so pardon the HUGE picture.....I don't know how to resize it!! This is Cora...

She is the daughter of one of my co-workers,
she is absolutely darling and I
just feel a connection to this little beautiful person...
So, I made her a quilt!!

Her mommy is very "HIP" and "Reggae type" person...she is a fantastic ER nurse
and she has the best attitude ever!
I simply adore this gal, my day at work gets better when I see she is there.  Shes one of those people who are beautiful from the inside out!!

So, I absolutely had to make these wonky stars
with Batiks...its so "up their alley"....funky and colorful...and fun like them!

I think shes gonna love it!

My first Zippered Pouches!

Well I finally tried my hand at making a zippered pouch!

For the one on the left, I used two scrappy
mug rugs that I had quilted but hadn't
put the binding on them yet, it turned
out to be a nice big size pouch.

The one on the right was made from some
scraps from my bag of browns...
I am going to give it to my friend Anna...its a bit small, but a good purse size.

I want to make more of these for an
upcoming craft fair...I think they would
sell well...now I just need to have some home
alone downtime and peace and quiet to
get them done!

If you are a chicken like me and haven't tried
making a pouch...you should, its isn't as bad as I thought it would be!!

Gold Bug Quilters Quilt Show 2014

My husband and I always attend our local Quilt Guilds quilt show every year.  Why is it that the  men always get in free?
I mean, thats great and all but what the heck eh and then he wonders why I make him carry everything! Ha!

Here are some beautiful quilts that we saw...minis are up first...

 Love this kitty!!

Gorgeous color in this one...and variegated thread....

This one had a staine glass look...very pretty!!

Now on to some bigger quilts...

I just loved all the embroidery on this one...
love all these sayings and
they are all true...quilters make the best friends....

This one was just so cute and whimsical...love those birds
and flowers...just lots of great colors and it made me smile...

Growing up we had a Pink Hibiscus tree in our front yard, it
had a large limb that was held up by a big post, it made a curve in
the tree that was perfect for reclining and reading a book...I loved that tree andall those big beautiful pink flowers...
this quilt was awesome!!

There were tons more quilts but these were some of my favorites...
cant wait until next year!

The person chosen to be my "sister" was

stalk my blog and figure out what I like....

Look at what she sent! Awesome!!

A super duper cute little bunny table runner,
its appliqued, its so sweet and fun!  Then I got some thread, a bumblebee pincushion
with the pattern, some batik charm squares,  batik 2" strips, a super duper cute little scissor holder that looks like Beas
signature little owl, and a great book on borders and a couple of patterns.....

I love it all...
Thank you Bea for being such a wonderful sister to me!!

Quilty Stitches Reveal

I used to do alot of cross stitch when
my son was young,
I did many samplers and Paula Vaughn pictures.
I really enjoyed it and sort of forgot just how much till I saw this.....

The Quilty Stitches SAL
@ Littlemissshabby.blogspot.com
I decided to join in...

This little Quilty sampler was just too simple
and cute to pass up!
We did one block every 2 weeks.
It grew and grew, I added gray as a
backgound color for a more modern look.  I love how it turned out!!

Now to find a frame for it....
