QBSA September

My partner this month for my swap in
Quilting Block Swaps Australias Paper piecing group was Marilyn in Utah.  She requested the
Block Rock'n Marley 3 little birds block
and we decided to swap 2 blocks instead of one!

Here are the blocks I made for Marilyn...

Sorry they are sideways...I don't know how to turn them!

They are in the mail!

Aunt Georgia #2

A few posts back I told you about my coworker Lauries
Great Aunt Georgia that recently passed away....this post shows the second quilt that I made using Aunt Georgias blocks, this one is for her son Johnny.

Here is the beautiful Hand Pieced Hexi block that she
made, we once again used it in the center of the quilt.
I then used fusible web to attach it and I did a little hand stitching around it.  Laurie wanted Johnnys initials in the center of the block. Johnny is a landscaper so she picked out these wonderful botanical type prints for the quilt.  Once again, she has great taste and is wonderful with color!

I then bordered it with this beautiful butterfly botanical
print and used more of Aunt Georgias hand pieced blocks
for cornerstones...

Please excuse my ugly foot!

Behold!  The finished quilt top! Beautiful!!

This is my assistant Buck

Sweetest boy ever!

Another finish!  Whew!

Idaho Square Dance!

When Bonnie Hunter was in town last spring, I attended
her workshop for Cathedral Stars.  Next to my machine I had a pile of 1 1/2" square blocks as leader/enders
to make 4 patches...I had no idea what I would use them for but I wanted to use up the fabric, well Bonnie piped up and said....
"Oh! You could make a Idaho Square Dance blocks!"

So thats how this quilt came to be!!  So far, I have 35 blocks...
not near big enough!

I sashed them with a pretty light green/white pin dot fabric and added 2" squares as cornerstones.....now there are
only 4 more rows to go to make it nice and big!

Yippee! Another Bonnie Quilt for ME!!

See? There she is with those little squares at my machine!

Fine things...Aunt Georgia #1

A coworker and friend of mine recently lost her
Great Aunt.  Her name was Aunt Georgia, she was a wonderful woman and she liked to sew!

Sounds like someone who I would have just loved also!

When my friend went down for her funeral she came home with some fine things that belonged to her Aunt Georgia
which included some hand pieced quilt blocks!
She asked if I would make them into quilts for a couple of her loved ones, of course!  So, this is the first quilt I got completed
for her..its for Aunt Georgias newest Great Grandson Jax.
He was born in August.

The center block was hand stitched by Georgia...I used fusible web to attach it to some coordinating fabric and then did some hand stitching on it with DMC floss..including
the babys name and birth date.

Koi kept me company while I hand sewed it down.
Shes such a sweet kitty!

The completed center of the quilt....

And the finished product!
My coworker Laurie picked out all of the
fabrics, she has a great eye for color...I just love it and so did she....I was just so happy to do something and preserve these
beautiful blocks made by a beautiful lady!

The best part of all is that when Jaxs mom received the quilt she was so surprised and cried, she thought that her Aunt Georgia had made it for her! We explained that the center WAS made by her and thats why we finished it in a
quilt for her new sweet baby!!

Such a fun project!  Smiles all around!!

a little bit whacked in the head when it comes to
scrappy piecing!

This is my second batch of 15 Itty Bitty Blocks for August

I made 15 already but did them in a complete rainbow, totally fun but not in the actual style that I should (wink!)
have done them.
