Birthday Fun!

I turned 29 again last week and my pal Julie and I decided
to take the day off of work and take a quilting class
down in Sacramento.  It was a class using the
"Quick Curve Ruler".  Now, my sister bought me this ruler about 3 years ago to make her a quilt.  Thing is, its out
of my comfort zone, with all of those wonderful curves so I let it sit and sit and sit.  Then this class came up to learn how to use it and I thought SCORE! I can get some firsthand pointers and experience with this ruler and hopefully get my sisters quilt done this year, then she'd be happy, plus get to spend the day playing with fabric with my "quilty sister"!

Double Score!

We used the "Urban Candy" pattern...this was our
sample block...what crazy fabrics eh?
 Reminded me of minature golf!

These fabrics below are what I am using...very "modern", purples, limes, aquas.....with a medium gray backgound.

Theres Julie concentrating cutting background pieces with the ruler.  Julies quilt is all purples with a lighter gray tone
on tone background. Its supposed to be for her daughter but she said that might change!

Do you like our new tshirts I got us?
HOLY SCRAP!  LOL!

This is the teachers sample quilt..

These are my first blocks...not too shabby!
Loving the color scheme!

Here I am with the pattern thinking to myself
"Oh boy, here we go...can I do this?".
Oh! And thats Beatrice, my 301A Longbed...Love her!

Theres Julie with a big ole grin....this was before she growled at me for making her take this class!! She is using my
other 301a Betsy that belonged to my mom.

Concentration!!!

Me and my good pal...shes such a good friend.  She puts
up with alot from me.  I am crazy and I have NO filter so thats alot!

Love you Julie, thanks for spending my Birthday with me!

Plus signs!

My "Quilty Bloggy Enabling" buddy Kathy in Ohio
turned me onto this QAL with plus signs....needless to say, I started sewing and never looked back, its not like I have anything else I need to get done right?  But I have to say, this is one heck of a scrap busting pattern too and so easy to sew up using 2.5" strip scraps!

 Love it!

Here are a few of my very favorite blocks....

Deep Purple!!  Yum!

Ruby Slippers!!

Burnt Orange...Love it...

Group shot!
See all my fun mixed up neutrals...Bonnie style!!

I sashed my blocks with 1.5" strips of multiple neutrals
with 1.5" cornerstones. I really love how it came out....of course its another one I want to keep!  Its so bright and happy, it makes me smile!

I'm still debating whether I need a border on it or not...I was thinking maybe using a white print with the "real" looking honeybees on it...I gotta find some though, I do have some but I am not sure that I have enough for all the borders.   This sure was a fun project, I enjoyed it very much.  Thanks Kathy! You always hook me up!

I've been busting those fabric crumb scraps as

My pal Julie...

This is my good friend Julie....I gave her this
Singer 301A for Christmas.  We named her Eleanor.

Julie loves Eleanor!

Julies piecing has improved so much since she has started
sewing first on my 301A Betsy and now on hers...Eleanor. I think she is hooked on Vintage Singers now! Yea!

So far she has made this Seattle Seahawks quilt for her sister Kathy.  She made it using the Arkansas Crossings pattern, super quick and with great results!

We backed it with this great neon green fabric that
I got for a super great price!

I longarmed quilted it for her using my "go to" loopy
loops.  I wrote "Go Seahawks" and her sisters name "Kathy" in the lower border of the quilt.

It turned out great! I am so proud of Julie and how
far she has come with her quilting skills...

Yay Yay Yay!

RSC-just call me crazy!

Soooo....I am already making the "Soul Searching block" to trade with my best quilty bloggy buddy in Ohio and then I am also making the Birch Trees blocks by Amanda Jean Nyburg
for my RSC blocks this year.  I am actually doing 2 sets of the Birch Trees blocks because my DIL piped up and told me that she really loves that quilt and had pinned it on Pinterest!

Ayyyyyyy!!

I kept telling myself, all those blocks are enough! I still have to put together my RSC 2015 blocks!

Did I listen to myself?

 NOOOOO!!
I kept thinking, I gotta use more scraps!!
The 2" squares bin was calling to me!!
So I made a 100 patch postage stamp square!
 Did I make a dent?

NOOOOOOO!!

But it is amazingly beautiful....total
SCRAPALICIOUS DELICIOUSNESS!!

LOVE IT!

Its going to be an amazing quilt!
