Late Friday Night Finish
I bet like alot of you, I have a pile of quilts with bindings needing the hand sewing done...so last night I got down to it and finished another one up. It was too late to post as a Friday night finish yesterday so we will call it that today! This is a charm pack pattern called "Ritzy Cracker" from Moda Bake shop, you can find it here http://www.modabakeshop.com/2010/10/ritzy-cracker-quilt.html ...its very fast and I love the look of the quilt....I even pieced the leftover blocks and put them on the back to use them up. I machined quilted it myself with straight lines to either side of the seams with a toffee colored thread and basting spray...not to shabby at all!!
Happy Saturday everyone! Another one to add to the pile! Whoop Whoop!!

I am so amazed at how much stuff was stuffed into that large rate box!
So heres the scoop:
The box began over at Cherise's blog and you'll find the story of it's origins here.
Today, it's my turn to offer up the Traveling Stash box in a giveaway.
Note! This giveaway requires that whatever you remove from the box must be replaced with equal fabric, patterns, etc. Then you must host a giveaway of the Traveling Stash Box so it can continue on it's way. You must cover the cost of postage to mail the box to your giveaway winner. This is a $15.45 flat rate box and so the giveaways are open only to those in the United States.
There are several Traveling Stash boxes that are circulating and you can read an update on the boxes here.
And the one who wins this box will find it all when it arrives at their door. Just leave a comment below with your name and e-mail link if you would like to participate in the adventures of The Traveling Stash Box. Just remember..........what you take out, must be replaced with equal value items and you must cover the cost of the package when you host your own giveaway and then mail the package to your winner.
The Giveaway winner will be drawn on Friday, Oct 5th. You have an entire week to enter and tell your friends about this fun giveaway. Have fun!
YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT!!!

Tuesday night sewing
The hospital where I work is opening a new wing which includes a new OB/GYN and a new Emergency Room (thats where I work). Anyways, hospital administration has asked employees to donate or sell artwork to the hospital, including quilts! So, after looking through several magazines, I came across the pattern for these free pieced Wonky houses by Tonya Ricucci of www.lazygalquilting.blogspot.com who also published my beloved "Word Play" book...so heres what I did tonight....
They are looking for bright happy quilts for the OB department, I really love the kitty in the window and the polka dot roof, these are just so fun to make.....we'll see how it turns out...I'll keep you posted! Also, if anyone would like to make a Wonky house to put in this quilt out of bright fun colors asap, that would be fantastic...just let me know if you can help me out, THANKS!

Sunday Progress
My friend and neighbor Julie comes over to sew with me pretty often. Today I helped her work on a Christmas present for another friend of hers. Its a coffee themed quilt..
Julie sewed all of the paper pieced coffee cups with different coffee themed fabrics, and sashed them with a coffee bean fabric.
Then,I used my "Wordplay" book to create the words "Ahhh...Coffee!!" which happens to be what her friend says once she gets her coffee in the morning...so thats perfect!
Then we did a freehand version of a paper pieced pattern we saw online of a coffee pot and put it in the corner...we think it really turned out great! It even has steam in the little percolator section at the top!! Ha!
Then to finish up my Sunday of sewing, I picked up little bits and selvages of the coffee fabrics and made these cute bookmarks with some scraps of pellon and grograine ribbon...not to shabby! These will be great little gifts!
Happy Sunday everyone...Heres to the start of another week!
Hugs!! Jules

Whites & Lights Flimsy is DONE!!
Yippee!! An almost finish! I got the Whites & Lights Flimsy done. This is the QAL that I am doing with www.15minutesplay.blogspot.com. It is almost made entirely of scraps, I had to pull the sashing fabric from my stash. It is a cream on cream floral. I tried many different sashing fabrics and this is what I thought looked the best. Its so calm and sunny...I love it! Its going off to the longarmer though...I've got too many piled up right now...enjoy!
Heres a close up of my favorite block, it reads "Best friends are like diamonds, precious and rare, False friends are like leaves, found everywhere".
This was a fun top to make!
Happy Saturday all!

A fun day with my little sweetheart!
Yesterday we went to a coworkers house. Her name is Gloria and she is in her 80's and still works! She is one amazing lady and I love her dearly. She lives in an area that has lots of red clay dirt and rocks rocks rocks..did I mention she has rocks? Her favorite pastime is taking out the garden hose and digging up the rocks in her yard to make little paths and walls on her property...She looks like an umpa loopa when she is out there because she is covered in the red clay dirt...its a sight! Anyways, my DH and I took our grandbaby Jayden out to her house and picked fresh granny smith apples and red plums from her trees. We brought along Jaydens princess wagon so she could collect the fruit...needless to say, my little tomboy grandaughter had a blast amongst all those rocks and dirt!
The apples are absolutely gorgeous...we picked two big boxes full and there are more coming. Today my friend Julie and I made 5 dutch apples pies to freeze and we didnt even make a dent in those boxes of apples. Julie is also going to make Apple Butter, Apple Jalapeno Jelly and Candy Apple Jelly..so they will all get used up...
Happy Friday everyone! Jules

I REALLY do quilt with Calicos.....ahem!
I really like this quilt...arent I beautiful on it..?? LOL!
In case anyone is wondering, this is the "Beginners Quilt-a-long quilt that I did online with Pat Sloan. We did one block a week for 12 weeks, today was the day to add the sashings and borders which is what I was in the process of doing before Koi showed up. Just two more borders to add and I am ready to quilt it. I am going to spray baste and quilt it myself with straight lines on either side of the squares. I really like how colorful it turned out to be, this fabric line by "Blank fabrics" is very bold, I've gotten many compliments on my individual blocks from the flicker group along the way...its been a fun QAL.
Happy Friday everyone, have a great weekend!
Jules

Greetings everyone..Happy Tuesday!
This is a commissioned quilt that I made for a gal at work. She wanted a neutral hawaiian baby quilt. I used all scraps for this one, and then my longarmer quilted Hawaiian Honu turtles all over it...it turned out very fun and the gal really loved it.

Heres a picture of what I am finishing up today, my Schinibbles Little Bites quilt for September called "Speck". This is the first time I have used basting spray and I have to say, it was a little sticky, but it works just great holding all the layers together. I quilted diagonal lines in all the squares, I just love how it turned out, I am very happy with the spray basting method!
Thanks to Cathy from "The Blueberry Patch" blog for all her help and tips!!
Happy Saturday!
