Learning something new!

I have always loved all the little
pouches that pop up all over blogland..

I was even lucky enough to win a pouch from
Connie @ Free motion by the river, you
can find her blog here:
 http://www.conniekresin.com/

I loved the pouch that Connie made so much that
I wanted to make some for my
family and friends for Christmas...needless to say,
once I started digging into
my 2.5" and 2" fabric square bins, the number
of pouches to be made
went up and up and up!!

The patriotic one went to my sister Junette.
The black Daisys and Dogs went to my DIL Kasey..
The orange one went to my coworker Sarah...
and the Purple Peacock one went to my niece Jetta....
I also made a pure purple one for my Co-Nanny Tam Tam!!

They were a hit!  I am going to make
more also...they are so fun and quick to make!!

Who knew? Me? Zippers?

WOW!!

Jayden!

Every year Jayden and I make a Gingerbread
house together.  Its so much fun to have this
annual tradition with her.  This year she was home
sick from school but that didn't stop her
from hanging out with her Granny and decorating
our candy house.

She always has such deep concentration when
applying the candies!!

She did great with placement of all the different colors too.

Here she is super proud of her completed house!!
Shes such a ham!
I love this little girl so much!

Then out of no where came a measuring tape....
she insisted that we measure to make sure the
house was correct!!

Hmmmm...color placement and measuring???

Quilter in the making???!!!!

I sold a quilt!

At the annual craft fair where I work, I
always enjoy showing my
quilts and talking to people about them and seeing
what they like and why they like them.

When my friend Lara showed up and said she
wanted a quilt for her mom for Christmas, I was thrilled.
She washappy too because she said her mom was super hard to buy for!  Score!

  • So she was thrilled to spot a quilt that she
  • loved for her mom!

  • She chose this Arkansas Crossings scrappy quilt....

Heres Lara all wrapped up in her quilt Burrito style!
She loves it! Yay!

Doggie Sleeping Bag

Anyone who know us knows that our whole family is crazy
about critters of the four legged variety.....and maybe a
few of the two legged variety!

My daughter in laws grandmother asked me to make her
weiner dog a sleeping bag...

I used this super cute doggie novelty fabric that I found
in my stash for the exterior of the bag.

and this super soft furry stuff for the inside...

She loved it, thought it was perfect and I heard that
it was a big hit with her weiner dog!  Yay!

Sharing with Friends

I ran into our friend Chris at the market, hes a fire fighter here
in El Dorado County.
He is an exceptional guy & a wonderful single father
to three great kids! (Crazy photo bomber below!)

He blew out the "ahem" crotch of his "turnouts",
part of his fire fighting gear.
He needed to make a patch...so he asked if he could come over and
use one of my sewing machines for a little while...
he brought the kiddos too!
All of them took a turn sewing, it was so cool!

This is Catelynn, the oldest, she is 10.

This is Cole, hes the youngest, he is 8.

And this is Cassie...shes 9....

It was a blast having them over for a quick little sewing retreat!
I love this special family...

Grand Illusion Start!

God Bless Bonnie Hunter!

Its mystery time, and this year its Grand Illusion.
The first clue
came out last Friday and I got started!

First order of business was to cut my Aqua and "pinks", mine are more mulberry colored into
2.5" hsts with the Easy Angle Ruler...

Once that was done, I got down to business with my cut pieces and a turkey sandwich and cheetos!
Gotta keep my energy up right?

I had lots of help....This is Suki..shes horrible..pure Tortie!!

This is my girl, Jacey Mae....I love black labs,
shes the best dog ever! Shes 10!

She needed to rest her head....shes old ya know...

Then the Suki monster got back in on the action...
at this point I realized it was
because of the turkey sandwich!!! Brats!!
Its all about the belly with these critters!!

The next day I went over to my kids house to
watch the grandbabies..
I brought along my chain pieced triangles hoping
that Jayden would enjoy helping
me snip them apart....she did a few and decided it wasnt such fun...but she posed for this
super cute picture...shes such a character!!

And low and behold, here is the motherlode of 125 Broken Dishes blocks...DONE!

Bring on Clue #2 Bonnie!!
