A Modern Finish!!

A Finish! Yippee!

My local quilt shop High Sierra Quilters
is a great little store, the owners name is Doug, I call
him "Dougie", and he is great.  He puts up
with my crazyness and we have a good time.
One thing he lets me do is dig through his scrap bin thats under the cutting table..I think I am the only customer
who does this AND checks his trash can for scraps...HA! What can I say, I love me some scraps and I have found some good stuff in there!!  Anyways, one day while
digging through the scrap bin, I found almost a whole quilt
in there!  He was gonna chuck it out...I told him I wanted it so he gave it to me...check this out!

Its all modern prints, Skyscrapers!!
Its beautiful, its very "manly".  All I had to do was add the black to the bottom and then the borders.   I then found a great backing at Dougs that went perfectly, and bonus, it was on clearance for 50% off!  Then I quilted it on my Singer 301A with some long wavy lines and bound it in the same fabric as the backing.

TA DA!! Done!!

I think its a great guy quilt, someone is going to love it!

Score!

Boom! Vacation Time BOM Done!

In January of 2015, I started making
Pat Sloans Vacation Time Block of the month.
Pat always has such great quilt-a-longs and has such talent in all her designs...this block of the month was alot of fun each and every month.  My choice of fabrics was super easy, my sister had picked out a pile of Aqua/Brown combination fabrics YEARS ago for me to make a quilt for her....well, that time came and we have a quilt! Yippee!!!  So this Christmas, she is getting this quilt, I know she will love it!!

Here are all the blocks from each month...

We did all of these blocks and then we were given border blocks to make one month, and then setting blocks and instructions to complete the quilt top.  I quilted it on my
Singer 301A, I was quite happy with the results, only a couple of puckers on the back...Woooohoooo!! Then while supporting my husband at his bowling league, I hand stitched down the binding and its a done deal...and in plenty of time for Christmas!!  Yay!  Here it is!!

I'm very pleased with this finish, I just know my sister is going to love it!  It matches her bedroom!!

A QBSA finish for ME!

I am a member of Quilting Block Swaps Australia...
Its so much fun swapping blocks with quilters all over the globe! Australia, New Zealand, Spain, England...USA!

For a couple of years, my block choice was the paper pieced
Lonestar done in random scraps with any dark blue background.  Along the way I received many beautiful blocks and a few undersized blocks, I always thanked each and every lady for their beautiful block addition to my quilt and never complained.  Everyone sews at their own level and learns each and every time that they make a block....so its a win win for me and I just don't see the point of complaining...besides,
the undersized blocks look awesome on the back of my quilt!

I did have a make a few of my own blocks to get the number I wanted and I rounded up a couple quilting buddies to make me a block, my pal Julie who lives local to me and my bestest bloggy BFF Kathy in Ohio...shout out...I love ya girl!!

So without further hesitation, I give you
SCRAPPY LONESTARS!

Being the scrappy lunatic that I am I pieced fabric crumbs onto strips of scrap paper and then trimmed them up and used them as the sashings......Whoop Whoop!

SCRAPPY GOODNESS!!

It was longarmed in a meandering star pattern with
rainbow thread, just perfect!

See? Dont those "unperfect" blocks look great on the back??

Its magnificent, I love it and its all mine!

Of course a few others want to test it out...

Morty

 Puka

Jayden!!

I think its a winner!!

Thanks for stopping by, have a great week!

Very Late QBSA blocks!

I finally finished the QBSA Blocks for my July partner tonight...yes, you read correctly, JULY.

Envision me hanging my head in shame, I have never been this late....WOW....I don't like it..

My partner requested a Japanese themed block, this really
threw me, she wanted a parasol, I couldnt find one.  Then I found an Origami Crane, couldnt figure out the pattern, so I finally broke down and bought a pattern...this cute little Kimono Girl...she was a snap to do!

I did them both in in Pinks and Purples...
I sure hope she likes them!

They are in the mail to Australia!

Hallelujah!!

A Finish!

Occasionally I get the opportunity to work a very quilty encouraging shift at work where I am able to sit there and watch movies and work on my cross stitch or in this case, hand stitch a binding! I love it....sitting there alone, answering the phone and making progress on a quilt!
My choice of viewing was quilt cam with Bonnie Hunter...

I completed this whole binding on this twin size
Scrappy Trip Quilt, which is of
course a free pattern offered on Bonnie Hunters Website at
www.quiltville.blogspot.com.

My plan was to use up this black autumn fabric that
I had languishing in my stash for a long time.  I used it as
my center strips on my blocks...adding in coordinating colors, scraps wherever possible, and a couple of solids.....

Heres a photo of the completed quilt.  Yay!
I hope it sells at the annual craft fair this year!  I got alot
of interest in it from co-workers so I think it will go!
