Grand Illusion is a Flimsy!

Oh my goodness, its still January and my
Grand Illusion Mystery Quilt
is a flimsy!!

YIPPEE!!!

I would just like to state that I am so glad that I
changed a few colors in this quilt.
I am not a fan of Yellow and changed it to
this toffee color...and my pinks are
much darker than Bonnies.

Like Bonnie always says
"Make it your own, its YOUR quilt!"

Many thanks to Dahlia for Cat testing
and approving another
Mystery Quilt....

I am sending this quilt to my best quilty buddy
Kathy in Ohio for some
 BOMB Longarm quilting!!

QBSA Quilt Top Complete!

For over a year now I have been swapping
 Quilt Blocks monthly with
Quilting Block Swaps Australia (QBSA) group.

My block choice was the Lonestar block
 (found on Craftsy for free).
I asked my partners to use scraps only and any
navy blue or dark blue background.

Needless to say I received many beautiful blocks
in the mail...I love squishy mail so much!
I was delighted to see all the wonderful talent that arrived each month, just gorgeous blocks.
The fabrics that each quilter used were all so unique...

I received a couple of blocks from bloggy friends
in the US and made a couple myself...then I sashed them with fabric crumbs that I sewed onto strips of
paper.  So lots of little bits were used up!

Now to find someone to work some quilty magic on
it...it needs longarming
with so many little pieces in it...

I love this quilt and its MINE!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Go sew something!!

Its that wonderful time to reveal our Quilt Doodles BOM 2014!!!
hosted by Cindy @ http://quiltdoodledesigns.blogspot.com/

I really enjoyed this monthly row by row Quilt-a-long...
It was all made with 2.5" Squares, my favorite!!

Each month we were given a free pattern to make
and post our progress...

We did a row of Christmas lights...
Ice Skates....
Stars...

Super cute mugs of cocoa...
Christmas Peppermint Candies...
Snowmen!!!

& even a few more...

This is the backing, funny thing about it is...I got it for
$1 a yard years ago....never knew what the heck I would use it for.

Its perfect for this wintery quilt!

I quilted it myself on my Kenmore 10 machine, her name is
"Lenore",  just making wavy lines across the quilt...
turned out GREAT!

Kims Quilt

I made this quilt last year with a
Quilt-a-long with Christas Quilts Blog.
Its called String of Pearls.  When my nephew Zane
was here visiting for Chrismas, I had him pick out a quilt that
he thought his mom might like...he chose this one for her.

Heres a close up of the quilting, I sent it out to a longarmer.

Here is the happy recipient, my sister-in-law Kim.  Shes
raised my two nephews Damon & Zane all on her own and
she has been a wonderful mom to them.  I love her like a sister.

Merry Chrismas Kim, I love you!!

Damons Quilt

Many of you most likely remember my previous posts about my
nephew Damon who is a student at Sacramento State Univ.  His brother
and I sewed and sewed and finished his quilt just in time for
Christmas!  We used all upcycled mens shirts and used a
old sheetfor the backing and made this
awesome string quilt!

Heres a close up.  I quilted it myself with wavy lines...

Here is my happy nephew Damon with his brand new quilt!
He was so happy!  He hadn't had a new quilt in almost 15 years.  Before
my mom passed away she had made him a denim and flannel quilt.
When he was young he used it so much that his other grandma had to make numerous repairs to the point where his mom finally took it away for safe keeping.

So this sweet boy was really really grateful for his new quilt, it made
me really happy to see him so excited!

Merry Christmas Damon, I love you kiddo!!
